2009 Movie Line Up - Super Success or Box Office Bummer

Hey fellow movie lovers! As I was randomly browsing Flixster's upcoming movie list, I saw some rather exciting titles in the 09' summer line-up. However, I also came upon some rather astonishing sequels...

In this post I will talk about the "highlights" of next year's flick list.

First on the line-up (that I'm excited about, anyway) is Inkheart.

Inkheart, based on the bestselling book by Cornelia Funke, follows Mo and his daughter Meggie through their novel adventures. And when I say novel, I mean it literally. This father/daughter team possesses a unique ability. One that every book lover dreams of obtaining. They have the power to read characters and objects out of books. When this gift brings a power-seeking villian to the relms of their world, however, things go from bad to worse.

So, while I have read the first two books in the Inkheart series (waiting for the third to go on paperback :D) and am looking forward to seeing this film adaption, I wonder if they will stay true to the storyline? I'm a stickler for accuracy.

Inkheart opens January 23

Next up - Fanboys

In what appears to be the style of Superbad, Fanboys is about a group of teens who drive cross country to sneak into the Skywalker ranch for a sneak peek at the then unreleased "Starwars Episode 1: Phantom Menace".

After seeing the trailer, I'm thinking that this film is going to be a mixed burrito of Superbad, Ocean's 11, and Starwars obsessed fans. While I did laugh at some of the displayed humor in the trailer, I can't help as to ponder the initial script. Will it be witty, or our we going to be sick of Starwars references by the time we leave the theater?

Fanboys opens February 06

Alright all you Anime fans! Your dream has finally come true! Hollywood actually made Dragonball into a live action movie. Why,I ask, couldn't have been Sailor Moon instead? WHY?!

Plot- Goku needs to fight evil evilness trying to take over the world, and the only way to do this is to obtain the Dragonballs that will give them the power to summon the mighty dragon.

I honestly don't think they'll be able to pull this off. Ok, let's do an experiment. Close your eyes and try to imagine an live action actor shouting "Kah-me', Kah-me', HA!" (excuse my horrible DB spelling.) Now, try to refrain from laughing.

Exactly.

Face the corny-ness on April 8.

Next up on the agenda is X-Men Origins - Wolverine (FINALLY

This spin-off of the X-Men triligoy centers around Logan's (AKA Wolverine) mysterious past. How did he become what he is today? How did he meet William Stryker? What's the story behind his hairstyle? Hopefuly all, if not more, of these answers will be revealed Wolverine.

I am EXTREMELY excited about this movie! I am (and always will be) a Marvel movie fan. Except for "The Punisher." That was just bad.

"Beam me to the nearest movie theater, Scottie!" Yep, you heard me right. Star Trek will once again grace us with it's awesome-ness.
Here is the plot as "Yahoo! Movies" spells it out -
"The early days of James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer space mission. "

Straight forward, and to the point.
Of course, if you are a Heroes fan you will instantly recognize this face in the movie poster. It's SYLAR (AKA Zachary Quinto)!

Out May 8

I am excited to say that the Transformers sequel is coming out summer 09'! Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen continues the epic Autobots VS. Decepticons battle.

This is sure to be a great follow up to a surperb movie.

Opens July 26

"Accio Harry Potter Movie!" It's getting closer and closer! Harry's 6th year at Hogwarts proves to be a distressing one. Hopefully New Moon won't bump Harry's release date back.

Out July 17

A lot of sequels are coming out next year, some of which are:

  • Night at the Museum 2
  • Terminator Salvation (WOOT!)
  • Superman: Man of Steel
  • Camp Rock 2 (I object.)
  • Toy Story 3, whose plot (according to Flixster) consists of Buzz being recalled to Taiwan and the rest of the toys going to rescue him. No joke. The people over at Pixar have a sense of humor.
  • High School Musical 4 (NO! BAD DISNEY! Plus, didn't they just graduate? Wouldn't it be College Musical? Or how about I Sang All Through High School and Didn't Pay Attention To Anything, So Now I'm a High School Drop Out Musical?
  • Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (Why? Just tell me why?)
  • Spider-Man 4 (Don't screw it up with random dancing scenes.)
  • Little Fockers
  • Sin City 2

Alright, that's all I have the breath for! Thanks for reading!
Later!

*Sigh* Mission failed.

I would like to apologize to my one follower for not writing in MONTHS. My bad. :-/

Hmmm, so what's new in my life? Well, I almost have all my Christmas shopping done!! And let me tell you, I'm am a MASTER of bargain shopping.
A MASTER.
O_o
OH, have you heard about this new Fisher Price product? No? Well, it's going to be the new hit item this season! This talking baby doll (which is creepy enough as it is) not ONLY calls you "Momma", but is shortly proceeded with the phrase "Islam is the light" and "Satin is king." The company replied to this claim by saying the doll only says "Momma" and coos and babbles.
Here is the Fox News report:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,435164,00.html

Seriously though, what has this world come to? I mean come on! Dolls, they're pretty eerie. Talking dolls, they just flat out scare me. But talking dolls that promote Islam and the worshiping of Satin, that's just scarier than scary.

Well, I shall leave you in astonished thoughts regarding today's society.
You've been a great audience! Tip your waitress!

Till next time!

A Blast From My Past

I went to Sam's Club this morning, you know just stocking up on supplies because of our economy, and guess what they were sampling?
Fruitroll-Ups and Fruit Gushers!
As soon as I put one of those gummy Gushers in my mouth, I started having flashbacks to Kindergarten. Ah yes, it was such a simple time then. A time where your worries consisted of trying to figure out if Lucky Charms were, in fact, lucky. (Seriously, this was a hot topic in my Kindergarten class. It started some pretty fierce arguments. How I remember this? I have no clue.) Wow, it's amazing what your brain chooses to remember about your past, eh? I can recollect some of hit music singles of my Kindergarten days :
I Want Candy - Remake by Aaron Carter(?)
I Get Knocked Down - Not sure who sings it...
and of course the Spicegirls classic - Wannabe.

Ah, the memories.

Like I said up near the top of my post, memories are a funny thing. I can remember a surprisingly large amount about my early elementary school years (which was a LONG time ago), but I can not for the life of me recall what I had for lunch yesterday.

Alrighty, I'll leave you alone in your thoughts about your early school days. I'm going to go figure out what I had for lunch yesterday, it's starting to bug me...

Alright, laterness!

Seriously, did I skip it or something?!?!

This is Halloween...Almost

Alright, Halloween is near! Finally! I'm excited.
In case you haven't heard, the other girls in BACH (http://www.plufflerler.blogspot.com/) and I are having a Halloween partying. Said party is being hosted by yours truly :) , so I had the marvelous duty of coming up with a Halloween playlist. Now, at first thought you might think there are absolutely NO songs centered around Halloween, but in actuality, there are quite a few.
Here is my playlist I have so far (Press "Pop Out Player", only way it will work for some reason):

data="http://www.musicplaylist.us/mc/mp3player-othersite.swf?config=http://www.musicplaylist.us/mc/config/config_black_noautostart.xml&mywidth=435&myheight=270&playlist_url=http://www.musicplaylist.us/loadplaylist.php?playlist=50138087">

value="http://www.musicplaylist.us/mc/mp3player-othersite.swf?config=http://www.musicplaylist.us/mc/config/config_black_noautostart.xml&mywidth=435&myheight=270&playlist_url=http://www.musicplaylist.us/loadplaylist.php?playlist=50138087">

All of the songs have either a Halloween tone or are eerie sounding.

Any suggestions?

Happy Early Halloween!

~Holly~

P.S.- Disreguard the last four songs on the list.

Air Guitaring Should Be an Olympic Sport

While I'm sitting here listening to Miss Murder and air guitaring uncontrollably, I figure I should do something constructive. Therefore, I'm posting in my blog.
Yeah, real constructive, right?
Anyway, I figured I would enlighten y'all about some interesting facts about Air Guitaring.
Did you know that world wide air guitar competitions actually take place?
Oh yes, it's very true. I had to do an essay about the air guitar for my English class (no joke) and I came across this website:
http://www.airguitarworldchampionships.com/
This is a serious competition, with rules and evrything. It's held in Oulu, Finland, with many air guitar rockers who enter from all over the globe.
This year's winner was from our very own USA, and did us proud with his superior stage presence and amazing air guitar skills.
Who is this person shaking up Finland, you may ask?
Craig "Hot Lixx Hulahan" Billmeier, is who!
You can watch his preformance and find out all about the Oulu Music Festival (host of the championships) on the aforementioned website.

And you can take that to the bank!

From your informative, air guitaring friend -

Holly? Keeping up a blog of her own? Psh.

Yes, I have started an independent blog also.
I will still be posting in B*A*C*H Bulletins (http://www.plufflerler.blogspot.com/) though! Honest!
Now, let me just say something straight out -
I have always been bad at keeping up journals.
In some of my old ones, the dates start out in a daily pattern then slowly drift to the white blankness of the 50+ non-written upon pages.
So will keeping up a blog of my own be any different?
I hope so.
Keeping up this blog shall be a test!
A test of determination!
A test of strength!
A test of my patience!

So keep reading to see if I accomplish this mission! ;)

That's all she wrote!
